Making AI feel native to how advisors already work

The platform's first-ever AI feature, letting advisers pull the exact client data they need through a single natural-language question. The design problem wasn't the AI; it was placing it so it strengthened the existing workflow instead of interrupting it.

About the product

Wealthy is a fintech platform for financial advisors, helping them manage client data, assess financial health, and deliver goal-driven guidance. Advisors use the Wealthy Partner App daily, so any new capability had to add speed and clarity without disturbing established workflows.

Wealthy AI was the platform's first conversational assistant. The hard part wasn't adding AI; it was embedding it into a mature product so it felt intuitive.

The problem

Naming and visual identity

Named "Wealthy AI" rather than a persona name, to stay professional and extend the brand. The icon is a star in a dark circle, suggesting a highlight or guiding light. AI surfaces use black against the app's white and purple palette for instant contrast.

Integration point 01

Client listing

A star icon sits top-right on the most-used screen. It opens a chat-style bottom sheet, so the client list stays visible behind it. The assistant greets with "How can I help you today?" plus one-tap suggestions based on common advisor needs. Results come back as the familiar client cards, filtered to the query, not a new result format the advisor has to learn.

Integration point 02

Smart Search

An "Ask Wealthy AI" black banner below the search bar signals that natural-language questions work here. It opens the same bottom sheet, broader in scope: procedural as well as data queries such as "How can I transfer my external folios?" or "Show me proposals I sent today", answered inline with steps and visuals.

Key design decisions

  1. Conversational UI via bottom sheet

    Keeps context on screen and allows multitasking, rather than taking over the app with a full-screen chat.

  2. Pre-defined prompt suggestions

    Lower the barrier of an open-ended input, which is the point most people stall at.

  3. Visual contrast

    Black with soft purple gradients marks AI elements, while core type and components stay consistent with the rest of the app.

  4. Nudging discoverability

    Context-aware entry points rather than tooltips or pop-ups, so the feature is found in the flow of work.
